Overview:

When launching QNE Software, you may encounter the error message "Connection to Database Failed." This issue prevents access to your database and can occur due to various reasons, including SQL service disruptions, incorrect server configurations, or network-related issues.

This article provides step-by-step troubleshooting solutions to resolve the error and restore database connectivity.

Scenario:

Upon opening QNE Software, the system displays a "Connection to Database Failed" error message, preventing access to the company database.

Procedure:

Solution 1Ensure SQL Service is Running (For Main Computer or Server)

  1. Open SQL Server Configuration Manager:

    • Press Win + R, type compmgmt.msc, and press Enter.

    • In Computer Management, expand Services and Applications and SQL Server Configuration Manager.

    • Click SQL Server Services and locate the SQL Server (QNEBSS) instance.

  2. If the SQL Server (QNEBSS) instance is stopped, start it by:
    • Right-clicking on the instance and selecting Start.

    • Verify that the state changes to Running.

Solution 2 (Alternative): Start SQL Service via Windows Services

If you cannot access SQL Server Configuration Manager, you can use Windows Services as an alternative:

  1. Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.

  2. Locate SQL Server (QNEBSS) in the list.

  3. If the status is Stopped or blank, right-click and select Start.
  4. Verify that the status changes to Running.

Solution 3: Update the Server Computer Name (If Computer Name Was Changed)

If the server computer name was recently changed, update the server computer name:

  1. Go to Companies Wizard by clicking the house icon.

  2. Update the path if necessary by performing the same steps in Solution 3.

Application:

  • Single-Computer Users: If using QNE Software on a single computer, ensure SQL services are running on the same machine.

  • Multi-Computer Setup (Server-Workstation): Workstations should always reference the correct database server path.

  • Post-System Updates: After Windows updates or computer renaming, verify that the database settings remain intact.
