Overview:
Auto-numbering in QNE Software helps maintain structured records by assigning numbers to rows or transactions in reports. This ensures each line item or transaction is counted systematically, regardless of sequence gaps in document codes.
Scenario:
A company generates a report listing multiple transactions. Each row in the report should display a line number (e.g., 1, 2, 3, 4...) to count the entries, regardless of whether the transaction codes are sequential.
Procedure:
Access Report Designer:
Navigate to the Task tab. Click on Design to open the report format selection.
- Select the format you want to modify and click Amend to edit it.
- Add a Row Counter Field:
Add a Label field and position it in the first column where numbering should start.
Click the mini arrow in the Label field.
In the Summary section, click the triple-dot (...) button.
- Set Summary Function to Record Number.
- Tick the Page checkbox under Summary Running to ensure numbering continues across pages.
- Click OK to save the settings.
- Save and Apply Changes
Click Save to confirm the changes.
Application:
Transaction Report with Row Numbers
In a transaction report, the Row Number (#) column systematically counts transactions, ensuring clear and structured documentation. Even if transaction codes are out of order, the numbering remains sequential, improving report readability and consistency.
By following these steps, you can effectively implement auto-numbering in QNE reports, streamlining record-keeping and report management.
