How to Import Report Formats from Different Companies in Reports Designer

Modified on Fri, Mar 21 at 5:18 PM

Overview:

QNE Software allows users to import report formats from different companies using Reports Designer. This feature enables businesses to standardize reporting across multiple databases by downloading and uploading pre-configured report formats. This guide explains how to transfer report formats efficiently between companies.

Scenario:

Imagine you have customized a financial report format for Company A, and now you need to use the same format in Company B without recreating it from scratch. Instead of manually designing the report again, you can export the format from Company A and import it into Company B using Reports Designer.

Solution:

1. Exporting the Report Format from the Source Company

  • Open Reports Designer and search for the report format you want to export.

  • Click Action > More > Download to export the report.

  • The system will download a .repx file, which contains the report format.

2. Importing the Report Format into the Target Company

  • Open Reports Designer in the target company’s database.

  • Click the Upload Report button to start importing.
  • Locate and select the .repx file downloaded from the source company.
  • Choose the correct Report Type from the dropdown list.
  • Enter a Display Name to help identify the report format.
  • Click OK to finalize the import.
  • The imported report format will now be available in the list and ready for use.

Application:

Let’s say you manage multiple companies under QNE Software and require a standardized invoice format across all databases. Instead of manually redesigning the report in each company, you can:

  • Download the customized invoice report from one company.

  • Import the same report format to other companies.

  • Ensure uniformity in reporting across all businesses.

By using the import/export feature in Reports Designer, businesses can efficiently replicate customized reports across different databases, saving time and ensuring consistency in financial documentation.
